How to hold your breath longer. There are no tricks to holding your breath longer and becoming a better freediver but there are ways that you can train. This tutorial details how to train for freediving, what aspects of our bodies we are training when we hold our breath, specific freediving techniques and the best exercises to maximise your natural freediving ability. How do I hold my breath longer is probably the most common question that I get asked and the truth is that there is no simple answer. It's also impossible to put all the information to increasing your breath hold into one video so I will be releasing several videos on the topic. The information in this video really does require you to have some prior freediving knowledge like: -How to breathe before a dive -How to rescue a blackout -Hypoxia and Carbon Dioxide theory -Basic freediving safety If you're keen to check out our online freediving school go to 🤍freedivingmanual.com To learn to freedive in Australia check out 🤍freedivingfamily.com
I'm in Mt Gambier for a few weeks to dive all the incredible sinkholes in the area. I'm also here to run Deep Weekend in Kilsby Sinkhole! This is by far the best place to dive in Australia. Crystal clear waters, stunning light and scenery. There are very few places in the world that are like it. I'll be freediving several different sinkholes in South Australia over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled! Stig Pryds is a Danish record holding freediver. He was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2008, which disabled him so much that he lost his business. After 5 years of intense pain and increasing dependency on drugs, he decided to quit all drugs cold turkey, and find alternative ways to deal with his disease. He began practising yoga daily, changed his diet, and started practising freediving. This caused drastic changes: within months he could walk without a cane, and he could play with his two young daughters again. It also taught him how good he actually was at freediving; within a year he started setting Danish records. He started traveling the world going to freediving competitions, where the warm weather and sun also improved his condition. He used his increased exposure from the Danish records to tell the story of his recovery and inspire people to live a healthy lifestyle. He started teaching others how to deal with auto-immune disorders. The downside of his new fame was that the insurance company, who paid his monthly disability check, noticed that he was doing things a healthy person does. Despite the argument that he's only healthy because he can do these travels and trainings, the insurance company threatened to sue him for lying -he'd have to pay back all the disability checks plus a fee. With the help from his doctors Stig managed to convince them his disease is real, just that he manages it well, but the insurance company decided to stop paying him his disability. The stress this whole procedure caused was enormous and Stig relapsed into severe pain. We shot this video in January, the hardest month for Stig, where he had to figure out how to proceed. We talked about how life can keep dealing you blow after blow, and how you know that you'll be ok anyway. But it still sucks that you have to deal with the blows, and have to go through that uncertainty of what comes next. Stig has decided to focus on his new breathing program, in which he teaches people how to breathe properly to deal with stress and disease, together with yoga and diet. He might not be able to compete much this year, but he's getting back up and doing his best to be of use to others. Find out more about Stig here: 🤍 The music is by Philip Logan: 🤍

I don't believe there is such a thing as 'yoga for freediving', since yoga is a psychospiritual discipline aimed at bringing about profound transformation in the practitioner. It cannot be separated from or applied to anything. Of course, if you have more than a superficial understanding of yoga, you know this already. However, the asana, the physical/postural exercises of hatha yoga, can be targeted to the specific needs of the freediver. By removing so many forward bends, and focusing on chest opening and rotational postures we can cover the most important stretches of the freediver, embedding them inside our asana practice. This is a 30 minute routine, ideal for everyday practice. A shorter routine allows more time for advanced stretching for freediving and other yoga elements like kriya and pranayama. For those who have time, or need a deeper routine, the 75 minute version is available to Patreon supporters at: 🤍 The Ujjayi Breathing Tutorial is here: 🤍 For freediving podcasts, courses, workshops, personalised coaching and more, visit the main website at: 🤍

It was truly amazing. Stockholm don't offer a lot of places with a clear visibility, but Stora Vika kalkbrott was clear. We saw plenty of perch as well, and they weren't afraid of us, so we could swim close and even take selfies with them. Another thing was the seaweed or algae that was growing everywhere. It covered the bottoms, rocks, branches in a way that it almost looked like corals! This is the first collaboration video with Marco Strong, and more will surely come in the future. This 15-minute practice originating from yoga is simple, very effective, and scalable. Incorporated in our daily routine, we will increase our CO2 tolerance, get more familiar with our breathing muscles, and improve our ability to relax while holding our breath. With Alexey Molchanov, World Champion Freediver, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Molchanovs. - We are encouraged to stay at home. That doesn’t mean we can’t continue our freediving practice. Freediving is not merely happening in the water. There is so much we can practice from home that will improve our performance in the water. Let’s embrace this time of solitude to create new routines and ways of living. In the face of solitude, community carries on. - The Molchanovs Mission is to share our love of freediving with the world. We do this by cultivating the level of knowledge and skill of all freedivers, by building global and local communities that fuel passion for freediving, and by developing gear that provides the best freediving experience possible. Our inspiration, Natalia Molchanova, is one of the greatest and most decorated freedivers in history. She was a passionate educator and a role model to many in the freediving community. Molchanovs is firmly rooted in her philosophies and approach to freediving, and is continuously updated with the latest developments in education, technology, and scientific research. We are inspired and honored to have had Natalia as our inspiration. Without her, the Molchanovs Movement would not exist today. Freediving in the Silfra fissure - a crack between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates formed by tectonic drift. The Silfra is fed by meltwater from Iceland’s second largest glacier giving the water an incredible 100+ meter visibility on a good day. The water temperature in the Silfra hovers at just above freezing all year around so most snorkelers and scuba divers use dry suits while freedivers opt for a 7mm+ wetsuits (and some nice and thick gloves and socks). This is something that has been on the bucket list for a long time now and is definitely an amazing experience!
